The fever knife

by Susanna on October 13, 2009

Keagan was feeling a bit under the weather and I asked him if he had a little fever. He said he didn’t know, he needed the “fever knife”. He then said the daycare ladies had two fever knives to find out if one had a fever. From his description I of course figured out, he meant a thermometer but why “fever knife“? I only just now figured out, that the daycare ladies must have used the German word “Fiebermesser”. “Messer” of course meaning “measuring device” and “knife”. Funny, in my whole life, I not once thought about this homonyme.

It’s true, kids show you the wold anew. Love you Keags. You make my life shine.
