USA 2009 – Travel Day

We had to get up 5:30 but everybody was in a splendid mood anyway. The 5 suitcases you see on the picture are mostly empty. I daresay that won’t be the case on our way back.

The whole flight went just peachy, Keagan slept for more than 3 hours on the plane, due to parent-induced sleep deprivation the two previous days. The rest of the flight he was allowed to play with the gazillion of iPhone applications I downloaded for him and to watch little cartoons Tobi copied onto his iPhone. We also subdued every last spark of insubordination in him by promising him a fabled super-toy as soon as we arrive at Lili’s place.

I really love flying American Airlines. Never encountered friendlier staff and the crowd is also usually in a relaxed mood. Keagan, wearing his headphones, got totally carried away by his cartoon and shouted “Blast off” at the top of his lungs every 5 minutes or so. Nobody complained, nobody glared.

The food on the plane though was horrible. In par with the fabled Gnotschi-Pfännchen we once encountered on Lufthansa which still haunts our most scary nightmares. Having anticipated that though, we bought loads of Sprüngli sandwiches and Luxemburgerli beforehand and could answer Keagan’s questions if this “is really pasta” with an honest “no” and give him something delicious instead. BTW whoever goes to Zurich in the next weeks, you have to try the chestnut luxemburgerli, they are to die for….
