We had again Haldimann’s and our friends and family visiting with us to celebrate Thanksgiving. As a special guest our dearly missed Mat from Melbourne graced us with his presence for 2 days (and helped peeling the potatoes).
After 24 hours of brining and filling it with Richard’s delicious stuffing the bird had a total weight of 14kg and fitted barely into my rather big grill. After 5 hours it looked like this and was ready to be enjoyed!
Susanna and Mat had decorated the table really nicely. Next to the turkey that turned out almost perfect this year we also enjoyed Susanna’s amazing potato mash, mashmallow covered sweet potatoes, sweet corn, string beans with hazelnuts and lots of great desserts prepared by Haldimanns and Markus. The dinner conversations covered everything from the history of Hungary 2 centuries BC to the implications of porn in the sexual behaviors of societies. We enjoyed ourselves greatly with such a nice circle of lovely people, eating great food and having splendid conversations, that we’re already looking forward to the next Thanksgiving.
Writing this I’m of course enjoying the mandatory left-over-turkey&stuffing-sandwich. Sooo delicious!
